Learning the Big Lifts Safely

About

The squat, deadlift, press and row are not advanced movements. They are the most efficient way to load the whole body, and they are also the ones people are most afraid of getting wrong. That fear is usually misplaced. Lifting does not damage backs and knees when it is loaded sensibly. What causes problems is jumping to weight the body has not been prepared for, or holding a position badly under load for months without anyone watching. Both are coaching problems rather than exercise problems. At Cape Town Strength & Conditioning you train inside a medical facility, with technique trained coaches advised by physiotherapists and biokineticists on site. We break each lift down, work you through the patterns at a load you can control, then add weight once the shape holds. Are deadlifts bad for your back? No. Poorly loaded deadlifts are. Loaded correctly they build a more resilient back. How long does it take to learn the lifts? Most people are moving well within a handful of coached sessions. Do I need to lift heavy? Not to benefit. Load progresses only when your technique earns it. Book your first session at 94 Strand Street, Cape Town, or WhatsApp 082 221 9390.
